congratulations
your messiah has banned clove cigarettes and is now going to do the same for fireplaces.

this retarded "climate change" bill requires that you get an "energy audit" if you're selling your house. carbon emitters like fireplaces may need to be removed.

Yeah, that's going too far. I wasn't aware of that specific aspect of the bill. It's pretty sad, if anything, because clove cigarettes are the only ones I can really tolerate being around for any lengthy period of time. :(

When he stated in his address, "We are banning flavorings that make them appeal to children," it didn't quite click with me what he was doing. I thought it was more of a taxing/regulating nicotine content and chemicals sort of bill.

Is this a local bill, or a federal bill we are talking about here? Fireplaces as carbon emitters?? Someone from the building industry didnt pay their yearly bribe...
Admittedly, it could be construed as such, but what about homes that use a small fieplace as it's primary supplement to heating, or its only heat source? And to have to have it REMOVED?? thats fucking expensive, it would mean that a large number of people who may want to sell their home would be unable to do so, and in this economy, that could mean a foreclosure for them.

Dont politicians ever think about the broader ramifications of the spittle that comes out of their mouth?

i believe you work in this industry.

you should do some research. hard data on what exactly this energy taxation bill will do is a bit scant.

I dont work in the industry, as yet, but having been carpenter and a brick mason for a long time before i went to school, I know for a fact that removal of fireplace, even simple repair, is helluva expensive. You have to pull off drywall, detach rebar from the foundation, remove a portion of the exterior wall, an thats the simplest manner. If the engineer designed the chimney as to be a part of the load bearing frame of the house, you are talking reworking ceiling joists and a whole slew of other issues. What fucking moron got this put in the bill, and why, is what I would be screaming.

I'm in the 'it didn't click' crowed. Banning cloves? were these ever targeted to children? and what will the Gothlings smoke now?

The fireplace-part of this is annoying like the digital television switch; there's probably a lot more of it that is annoying. I wonder if it's available for reading. My parents said it probably is here, on the internet but it's over a thousand pages long!
